Thymosin Beta-500
TB-500 is a synthetic fraction of the protein thymosin beta-4, which is present in virtually all human and animal cells. The main purpose of this peptide is to promote healing. It also promotes creation of new blood and muscle cells. The healing effects of TB-500 have been observed in tendons, ligaments, muscle, skin, heart, and the eyes. Thymosin beta-4 is naturally produced in higher concentration where tissue has been damaged. This peptide is also a very potent anti-inflamatory agent.
TB-500 is different from other repair factors (growth hormone, IGF-1) because it promotes endothelial and keratinocyte migration. It also does not bind to the extracellular matrix and has a very low molecular weight. Because of this, it can travel long distances through the tissues in the human body.
One of TB-500 key mechanisms of action is its ability to regulate the cell-building protein - Actin. Of the thousands of proteins present within human cells, actin represents roughly 10% of the total. It is thus a vital component of cell structure and movement.

Actin binding:
Thymosin β4 was initially perceived as a thymic hormone. However, this changed when it was discovered that it forms a 1:1 complex with G (globular0 actin and is present at high concentration in a wide range of mammalian cell types.
Due to its profusion in the cytosol and its ability to bind G – acting but not F – acting Thymosin β4 is regarded as the principle actin - sequestering protein in many cell types. Thymosin β4 functions like a buffer for monomeric actin as represented in the following reaction.

In addition to its intracellular role as the major actin - sequestering molecule in cells of many multicellular animals, Thymosin β4 shows a remarkably diverse range of effects when present in the fluid surrounding animal tissue cells. Taken together, these effects suggest that thymosin has a general role in tissue regeneration. This has suggested a variety of possible therapeutic applications and several have now been extended to animal models and human clinical trials
Tissue regeneration:
when a researcher works with cell culture and experiments with animals they come to know that administration of Thymosin β4 can promote migration of cells, the formation of blood vessels, maturation of stem cells, survival of various cell types and lowering of the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines. These multiple unique properties have provided the impetus for a worldwide series of ongoing clinical trials of the potential effectiveness of Thymosin β4 in promoting repair of wounds in skin, cornea and heart.
Dosage
Dosage depends on the purpose and severity of the injury / damage you are treating. People generally use between 4 to 8 mg of TB500 per week during the initial (loading) period of 4 to 6 weeks. Afterwards some opt to maintain the effects with a low 2 to 6 mg dose once every 2 weeks. The effects of TB-500 wear off within 2 - 3 weeks of injection.
Side Effect
There have been no reported side effects during the past few years since TB-500 became popular by athletes. For some reason people expect the TB-500 to produce flu-like symptoms.
